Since 2009, Forest Management Saint -Maurice owns, operates and develops a total area of over 389,000 ha , or if one wants to 3,890 km2. This area consists mainly of two territories north of the town of La Tuque and several batches of the lower St. Maurice ; this region is known in the community as the ''territory of the Franks -Alleux .''The current territory of GFSM was formed following multiple acquisitions over the years. The first documented transaction dates back to 1911 when the St. Maurice Valley Company has received a block of land from the Province of Quebec. Smurfit Stone acquired the land in May 2000, when it acquired St. Laurent Paperboard . In September 2009, GFSM acquired the vast majority of private land Smurfit Stone through Investissement Québec . The daily management of operations is now provided by the Forest Management Saint -Maurice inc.
