Established in 1994, PAIL is 100% owned and controlled by the Inuit in the four Inuit Land Claim Settlement Regions of Canada (Inuvialuit, Nunavut, Nunavik and Nunatsiavut), acting through their respective Birthright Corporations.PAIL's seven Shareholder corporations are: the Inuvialuit Development Corporation (IDC); Nunasi Corporation; Qikiqtaaluk Corporation (QC); Kitikmeot Corporation (KC); Sakku Investments Corporation; Makivik Corporation; and the Nunatsiavut Group of Companies (NGC).Major objectives of PAIL's Shareholders are: to have employment opportunities for Inuit available at professional, technical and non-technical levels; and to encourage the participation of Inuit businesses in Northern economic activity. Key to meeting the employment objective is promoting appropriate and adaptive development and training programs for Inuit. It is by a well trained and experienced workforce as well as a strong business infrastructure that the Inuit will achieve equitable participation in the Northern and Canadian workforce and economy
