W Dowad Ltd

W. Dowad Ltd. was started in the late 1940s with Wilf Dowad's first construction project in Burnaby, B.C. An enthusiastic and hard working businessman, the business flourished and by the 1960s W. Dowad Ltd. was building high rise apartment buildings in the West End of Vancouver and elsewhere in the lower mainland of B.C. Wilf decided to move to Squamish in the early 1970s where the company moved into land development as well as construction. Land development is currently the company's main focus.W. Dowad Limited's daily business is now conducted by members of the family. His daughter Kathie Smillie is the President of the company. She also co-owns the construction company G. Smillie Holdings with her husband Graham. Norm Dowad, a corporate lawyer, completes the management team.
